Managing Director and Consulting Geophysicist
GAP GEOPHYSICS & QUICK_LOG GEOPHYSICS
Geoff Campbell has an MBA from Wits and an MSc(Applied Geophysics ) from the Royal School of Mines , along with nearly 50 years experience in the application and interpretation of airborne, ground and borehole geophysical surveys in mineral exploration, geotechnical and hydrogeological programmes in Africa and the Americas. His teams pioneered the deployment of high resolution aeromagnetic and high resolution 2D plus 3D seismic reflection surveys in Southern Africa ,which techniques are by now “de rigeur “ in geophysical prospecting . He has an extensive background in gold, platinum, coal, base-metal, manganese, iron-ore, uranium, potash and kimberlite exploration geophysics , specializing in target generation, litho-structural interpretations and “loss-of-ground” mapping. Campbell is currently MD of consulting and contracting group GAP Geophysics and borehole geophysical logging group QUIK_LOG Geophysics. Of late, geotechnical, site investigation and hydrogeological projects have assumed increasing importance alongside the GAP and Quik_Log unique “one-stop-shop” product deliveries in surface and borehole seismic reflection survey work. Campbell is the lead author of several seminal , refereed geophysical exploration papers and a prolific presenter of conference papers . He is a member of the SEG and ASEG, an honorary life member and twice Past President of the South African Geophysical Association (SAGA), a Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa (FGSSA) and a recipient of the SAGA Krahmann Medal award for technical excellence.
