Lynette is a Senior Geophysicist at Namdeb Diamond Corporation and has 17 years of diamond geophysics and geological experience. She joined the De Beers Group as a graduate trainee in 2003 and has subsequently spent the bulk of her career in marine and placer diamond exploration, predominantly on the west coast of southern Africa. Her experience ranges from offshore geophysical survey operations to marine geophysical R&D projects; specialising in the ultra-high resolution requirements of placer exploration. Most recently, she has been involved in developing the onshore-offshore model for Namdeb’s nearshore mega placer. This involved integrating various types of geophysical and geological datasets into a vast inventory of historical mining data to form an exploration strategy for this geophysically and techno-economically challenging target. This project has formed the bulk of her PhD research, which is in the final stages of examination at UKZN.
