Principle Geoscientist at Reflex for the EMEA region
Noleen obtained her BSc and MSc degrees in geology at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
She started her career at the Geological Survey of Bophuthatswana where she was involved in exploration and geotechnical investigations for suburban development. She continued with the Council for Geosciences, based in Mafikeng, on the reintroduction of Bophuthatswana into South Africa in 1994.
She joined West Rand Consolidated, which later merged with Harmony Gold. While with them, she acted as mine geologist at Kalahari Goldridge Gold Mine and was part of the exploration team which discovered the platinum deposit close to the mine. Her position with Harmony took her to Peru where she investigated gold opportunities in South and Central America.
After her return to South Africa in 2007, she moved into consulting; first with The Mineral Corporation as a senior technical advisor, and in 2014 she joined The MSA Group (Pty) Ltd. She has been with Reflex since 2017.
She has over 20 years’ experience in the management of gold, platinum, chrome, iron ore and coal exploration projects in Africa and South America. In addition, she has been involved in site evaluations, due-diligence work and extensive multi-commodity mineral rights management.
Noleen is a fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa and a registered professional natural scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professional (SACNASP). She is a patron and the past chairperson for Women in Mining South Africa and a life member for The Worldwide Association of Female Professionals. Noleen was named one of the Top 10 Global Inspirational Women in Mining for 2016.
