Bridge The Gap Mentorship
Bridge the Gap (BTG) is a student run organization, that focusses on mentorship to “bridge the gap” between undergraduate and postgraduate students, and postgraduate students and industry professionals. Their core mentorship program was designed to assist geosciences students to better transition into the university and industry landscape and to ignite a greater passion for geosciences.
This year, SAGA will be partnering with Bridge the Gap (BTG) at the #SAGA2022 Biennial Conference in the form of the following:
An interactive panel discussion on mentorship from industry professionals and students who have been mentored and mentees. Stay tuned for more information on who our panelists will be and the overview of topics to be covered!
As part of the ongoing BTG core mentorship program (and hence post-conference purposes), students who would like to be mentored will be paired with industry professionals willing to be mentors. The program will connect industry professionals (mentor) with postgraduate students (mentee) to establish an academic relationship that allows industry professionals to act as positive role-models for the students. Mentors may aid in the form of academic or practical advice together with strategies for success in the geosciences stream at tertiary and industry level. New mentors and mentees are encouraged to sign up before, during and after the conference.
