Bushveld Underground Platinum Mine Tour
Field Trip : Bushveld Underground Platinum Mine Tour
Friday 2nd December 2022
Maseve Mine, Rustenburg
About the Trip
Join us for a day-long field trip on Friday the 2nd of December for an opportunity to experience going into the earth, down a Platinum mine, and to learn more about the local geology of the Palaeoproterozoic age Bushveld Complex. Delegates will be accessing the mine via a decline portal. We will visit the Royal Bafokeng Maseve Mine which is geologically located in the Rustenburg Layered Suite – an accumulation of mineralised mafic and ultramafic rocks which is regarded as a textbook example of fractional crystallization from a melt-dominated magma chamber. Maseve mine has been used as a test mine for in-mine geophysical experiments to image the orebodies and geological structures ahead of the face. Space is limited, so be sure to secure your spot!
