BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Branko Cornér graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a BSc majoring in Geology and Physics in 1973, continuing with a BSc Honours, MSc and PhD in Geophysics. He served as Head of the Department of Geophysics at Wits University for 12 years, and has an additional 40 years of experience particularly in the minerals exploration industry, and also in geohydrology. He has specialised in the interpretation of airborne and ground geophysical data applied mostly to African and Canadian data sets, with an emphasis on geological mapping under cover. Branko presented applied geophysics courses annually, for a period of over 20 years, at the Universities of Rhodes and Namibia. He has authored 24 refereed publications and 37 Conference proceedings. He played a pivotal role in the discovery of the Otjikoto gold deposit, and is a recipient of the Henno Martin Memorial Medal in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards furthering the understanding of Namibian geology.
