BIOGRAPHY

Doug Oldenburg is an emeritus professor of Geophysics in the EOAS department at UBC. He is the founder, and now advisor, for the UBC Geophysical Inversion Facility (UBC-GIF). His research career has focused upon the development of inversion methodologies and their application to help solve applied problems in a variety of fields. Motivated to make geophysics more accessible and engaging, he co-leads efforts for developing open-source resources for students, researchers and practitioners that increase the use and usefulness of geophysics through SimPEG (https://simpeg.xyz) and GeoSci (http://geosci.xyz).
