Damian Pasiecznik

Data Scientist Specialist

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Damian Pasiecznik holds a doctorate in Geophysics from the University of Leoben, Austria, where his research focused on the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic data for the DIVE project — an international scientific-drilling effort, run under the ICDP, to probe the deep continental crust and its transition to the mantle in the Ivrea-Verbano Zone of the Italian Alps.

He works as a Data Scientist Specialist at Xcalibur Smart Mapping, where he develops machine learning models for the processing and interpretation of magnetic, radiometric, and gravimetric data, as well as for the analysis and interpretation of remote sensing data. His work spans computer vision, classical machine learning, and deep learning, and he is also implementing agentic AI systems to automate geophysical workflows.

Quote: “AI is doing for geophysics what computing did before it. It won’t replace our judgment; it helps us see our data with fresh eyes, hand the routine work to the machines, and spend our time on what matters.”
