Seis the Moment
South African Geophysics Photo Contest.
Celebrate the people, history, and evolving practice of geophysics across Africa.
We are excited to launch a new photo contest showcasing historical geophysics, contemporary fieldwork, geophysicists in action, and instrumentation and innovation across the continent.
From remote field camps to busy urban areas, from heritage archives to cutting‑edge technology, and from the landscapes we study to the scientists and practitioners who explore them, this contest invites powerful visual stories that capture the spirit of African geophysics in all its forms.
Participants are encouraged to submit images highlighting:
- The people who drive geophysical discovery;
- The history and evolution of the discipline;
- Fieldwork in diverse environments, on land, at sea, in the sky and underground;
- Technological innovation and instrumentation across the continent;
- Landscapes, natural or urban, that shape geophysical practice.
Whether you’re a student, researcher, professional, or enthusiast, we welcome your perspective. Help us reveal the depth, diversity, and impact of geophysics across Africa.
